Teodora Duchovnikova (born Teodora Ivanova) is a Bulgarian actress, known both for stage roles and for appearances in film and television. She was born in December 1977 in Sofia. She graduated from NATFIZ "Krastyo Sarafov" in 2000, in the class of Prof. Snezhina Tankovska and Andrey Batashov.
Her work on stage is diverse and includes roles in dramatic theatre, as well as in plays with provocative themes that invite discussion, conflicts, and debates on morality and personal freedom.
One of her more recent projects is the play „Don't Say It!“ (a French comedy by the author Salomé Lelouch), in which she partners with Zahari Baharov, under the direction of Yavor Gardev. Its premiere took place in Burgas on September 12, 2023 at the Summer Theatre.
The theme of „Don't Say It!“ encompasses questions of how powerful and dangerous the truth can be, how words are used in relations between the sexes, what it means to speak or not to speak, and how the verbal frequency of communication can create or destroy trust. The comedy is packed with sharp dialogues, clashes of character — Baharov’s character is described as “unscrupulous, provocative, someone who doesn’t keep quiet,” and Duchovnikova’s heroine as “unfiltered, arrogant, brash.”
The set design for the production is by Svila Velichkova; the translation of the play is by Snezhina Zdravkova. Teodora Duchovnikova, with her participation in this performance, demonstrates her ability to handle strong characters who are not afraid to express uncertainty, anger, love, insistence on the truth — qualities that earn her respect from both theatre critics and the audience.
Beyond „Don't Say It!“, Duchovnikova has a rich career. She appears in numerous film and television projects, as well as in dramatic theatre with classical and contemporary productions.
