Orlin Goranov and Edelina Kaneva – Concert

Two big voices, two genres, one mood. The meeting of Orlin Goranov – equally convincing in opera, musical theatre, and pop – and the lyric soprano Edelina Kaneva brings that rare blend of technique and temperament that makes the live concert a true story, not just a series of songs. Orlin is a recipient of awards from international festivals, among them the Grand Prix of „Golden Orpheus“, as well as prizes from Dresden and Prague. The audience also knows him from the hits „The World Is for Two“ and „Childhood Memory“ – a signpost to the romantic layer in his repertoire.

Edelina Kaneva is a graduate of the „Pancho Vladigerov“ State Music Academy, a longtime soloist of the „Stefan Makedonski“ National Music Theatre, where she sings central roles in „Die Fledermaus“, „The Gypsy Baron“, „Countess Maritza“, „The Land of Smiles“, etc. Since the end of 2022 she has headed the theatre, which gives her additional perspective on working with an orchestra and large-scale stage forms.

The two already have joint projects – the concert show „A Tale for Two“ and duet recordings such as „Revelation“ and „Ode to the World“. This shared history is a good indication of how the chemistry between them is born: chamber sensitivity, supported by operatic discipline and pop inflection.

Latino here is not just a style, but an approach: warm harmonies, muted percussion, room to breathe between phrases. Goranov has proved his stage presence also in spectacular titles such as „Man of La Mancha“ (in the role of Don Quixote/Cervantes) and „Mamma Mia!“ (Sam Carmichael) – experience that lends the romantic ballads a dramaturgical arc and a sense of storytelling.

Hall 1 of the NDK is the largest indoor space for the performing arts in Bulgaria – 3,380 seats, good sightlines and access for people with disabilities. In such acoustics the warm timbres and Latin rhythms sound full and clear, and the wide stage allows for more generous lighting and the unfolding of the ensemble. It is advisable to allow time for seating – the entrances from „Bulgaria“ Blvd. and from the park ease the flow before the start.
